Preeon Publisher is a powerful tool for im­plementing customised communications pro­jects.

The core of Preeon Publisher is an XML- based software robot that translates the actions in the WOW-Editor (Write-On-Web­page) into professional publishing format output documents such as Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign. The print-ready, high resolution data can be sent to any print shop for professional printing in either PDF format or in the document formats of Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign. In essence, Preeon Publisher replaces an entire chain of very costly pre-press processes.

The system is completely web based, and no software or add-ons need to be installed on the client side. Unlimited numbers of users are able to access Preeon Publisher, open professionally prepared templates in the HTML based WOW-Editor (which are identical to the print output), choose and modify their images, change their text and send the final high-resolution print material to the print shop without ever being engaged in specialised publishing software. Text is shown as a plain text displaying the fonts of the final documents, and images are presented in either .gif or .jpg format, depending on the format of the original files.

Text in single page or multi page documents can be edited and formatted within the given restrictions of the original document, which can be Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign. Images from ImageDirector can be placed and positioned into individual con­tainers. They can be resized while retaining the masking, and they can be moved and even be rotated. Preeon Publisher inserts all text and image manipulations into the original docu­ment through XML. Every page of a document represents a tem­plate that defines layouts and identity elements. While the users see at all times a 1:1 representation of the final result in the WOW Editor, the completed document can be saved and viewed as a preview in PDF. Once the user is satisfied with the result, the print data can be sent to any print shop in either a high resolution PDF or as a Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign document that can be fine-tuned even further. Users can send a link to the print shop where the files can be downloaded, or the files can be made accessible within an ImageDirector account for the print shop.

The Preeon Publisher server is linked to onison's ImageDirector Media Asset Management System, another database file system or a CRM system. With the help of ImageDirector, Preeon Publisher can handle virtually any image file type. There is no need to prepare your original images for this system differently from what would have been prepared for print jobs. The system can rely on the original images provided and does not require the user to have pre-cropped or pre-rotated versions. Preeon Publisher can handle image manipulations such as resizing, ro­tating and cropping internally.

Preeon Publisher is designed for professional output in the print shop or with digital or offset presses. The Preeon Publisher ser­ver can output in PDF, Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign, PostScript, bitmap, EPS or a number of optional formats.
